A benign condition

HPFH is a benign condition due to disruption of the perinatal switch from gamma-globin to beta-globin synthesis. This is associated with enhancers brought closer to the gamma-globin gene.

A woman with HPFH will cause a disruption of the oxygen from the mother. If someone suffers from HPFH and gets pregnant, she'll have problems delivering oxygen to the fetus.
