Synovial Cyst

  • A non-tender cystic swelling, commonly on the dorsum of the wrist; this is the size of a small grape and contains clear mucinous fluid.
  • The cause of synovial cysts are unknown.
  • They may cause compression of the median nerve by narrowing the carpal tunnel, causing carpal tunnel syndrome and manifesting itself as pain and paresthesia, and clumsiness of finger movements.
