  • Thiamine deficiency associated with chronic alcoholism.
  • Symptoms include apathy, loss of memory, and rhythmical to-and-fro motion of the eyeballs.
    - A lesion of the mammillary bodies (bilateraly) produces Wernicke-Korsakoff encephalopathy (confabulations and anterograde amnesia).
